Take NOTICe Weekly - OTN Development
Construction is progressing well at Tidelock, interior fit-out and exterior cladding is continuing. Their condos will be available for viewing starting in October and apartments will be ready for lease in March of 2026. Work at 425 Montgomery Street has been moving slowly this summer, they are pouring concrete for the foundation and two levels of parking garage. Still no notice of when construction is actually starting on the Montgomery block even though we were given a February 2025 start date.
The project that is replacing the hotel at 802-808 North Washington Street (yes, some blocks on the western side of N. Washington Street are in Old Town North) received a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Board of Architectural Review this week. Unfortunately, we believe it did not comply with many of the OHAD (Old and Historic Alexandria District) Washington Street Standards to memorialize the George Washington Parkway, especially regarding the massing of the 5-story building next to the 2-story historic McCauley House that was saved for inclusion in the project. The Historic Alexandria Foundation, Old Town Civic Association, NOTICe spoke at each BAR meeting for this project over the past 4 months expressing our concerns. NOTICe will continue to be vigilant to reinforce the OTN Design Guidelines for all projects within Old Town North, and the OHAD Washington Street Standards where they overlap within our Small Area Plan.
