Left Turn Lanes: Washington Street

The plan on Monday, November 28, 2011 was approved by the Alexandria Traffic and Parking Board; implementation approval and time frames usually are pro forma for such matters. It now (Jan '12) appears that the proposed changes weill be implemented in early 2012. Details are below.

Contact with city officials and perusal of the local press indicate that that the planned closing of the GenOn/ (formerly MIRANT) facility and related operational activities there appear to be on or perhaps a bit ahead of schedule (Fall 2012).

Bus Barn

Bus Barn may relocate to Fairfax County

Plans are in place to move (within a year or two) the WMATA bus barn from N Royal, Old Town to Cinder Bed Road near Newington, VA. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recently approved the action. A nearby Home Owners Association on April 6, 2011 filed suit, after having previously lodged several complaints.
